El «CÓNDOR ANDINO (Vultur gryphus)», pertenece a la familia: Cathartidae y al orden de los Falconiformes, en general es de Coloración negro. El macho tiene su cabeza y parte desnuda del cuello de un tono rosado amarillento, luce una gran cresta carnosa sobre la base del pico y un pellejo colgante a modo de papada; en la base del cuello se destaca un collar de plumón blanco; Parche blanco en la parte dorsal media del ala; Iris pardo amarillento. La hembra: es un poco más chica que el macho; iris rojo. Los juveniles son totalmente pardos. // Es el ave símbolo de la Cordillera de los Andes, de las voladoras más grandes del planeta y longevas, pueden vivir más de 70 años y forman pareja de por vida.
